On December 7th and 8th, Ramiro Cervantes and Miguel Vasquez conducted a two day intensive workshop in the Los Angeles County. Workshop attendees were taught the theory behind the methods incorporated by these two professionals in addition to how to apply these theories to real world examples. All types of lighting techniques were explored and practiced day and night including flash (Cheetahs and Einsteins), natural light, continuous light. Professional make-up artists and models were provided on both days. Attendees were transported to various locations around the Los Angeles area to learn and practice lighting techniques. We concluded each day with a photo retouching session editing photos we took throughout the day.
Had a successful male model shoot with Paul Alexander at the Los Angeles Arboretum located in Arcadia, California. The shoot was part of Ramiro's one-on-one mentorship program. The focus of the shoot was to practice lighting techniques in a variety of backgrounds within the Arboretum grounds. We used flashes, reflectors and natural light to create these images. Our shoot lasted from late afternoon until sundown.

Beckstead, the page administrator, selects the award winners. Criteria for receiving this award include use of composition, uniqueness of the photo, editing, use of light, and impact. Ramiro's photo, titled "Endless Dress", was selected by Beckstead and featured on the Facebook's page as the cover photo. This award is highly coveted and very difficult to receive. According to Beckstead, "This award is given to images that show amazing composition and just seem to fit so well on the top banner of Abstract! You can't ask or pay your way to be on top!"

In November, Ramiro Cervantes conducted a workshop exploring the uses of natural light. This photo was shot at Stanford University using the following settings.
Camera Settings : 1/400 sec; f/2.8; ISO 100
Canon 5DM3 using 70-200 2.8 IS v2
We produced amazing results without the use of any external lighting.
